Hi all,
The children in our church have just started learning about Abraham. We’ve tried composing a “rap” to help them remember God’s promises to him (e.g. from Genesis 12v1-3):
God has a plan that began with Abraham
He is the man. God will give him land.
His children will be as many as the sand.
The nations will be glad. The nations will be glad.
Land, people, blessing! Land, people, blessing!
Depending on the culture of your audience you can add the words “Yay!” or “Yo, yo, wassup” to the end. If you find it a bit cheesy as a rap, you can try singing it to “Greensleeves” or “House of the Rising Sun”. (Just kidding!)
Feel free to send us any suggestions for improvements or additions. Perhaps we could add a verse about Abraham’s faith, and one about Jesus being the son of Abraham and what that means for us (e.g. from Galatians 3).
Cheers
